Swisslog Healthcare announces updated global management structure

As part of the KUKA Group, a leading global supplier of intelligent automation solutions, Swisslog Healthcare continues to expand its global reach and the leadership required to manage it.

1 March 2022

Cory Kwarta has been named CEO Swisslog Healthcare TransLogic and Hans Schuler has been promoted to CEO Swisslog Healthcare Medication Management.  Both Schuler and Kwarta will report directly to the KUKA Group Board of Directors.

"The TransLogic transport automation systems have been helping hospitals and healthcare facilities to increase their efficiencies and improve patient care over the past 100 years. I’m excited for this opportunity as we maintain our position as an operational technology leader in the MedTech market", said Cory Kwarta.

Prior to his appointment as CEO, Kwarta was President of Swisslog Healthcare, North America since 2018. Previously he spent ten years in various leadership positions within Swisslog Healthcare.
Kwarta has a bachelor’s degree in systems engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point, and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Denver.

"We’ve long earned a reputation as a medication management leader across the globe, and we are excited to introduce and expand our offerings to benefit even more facilities and healthcare groups." stated Hans Schuler. "Backed by our strong team, both in commercial and portfolio development, we are well positioned for the steps ahead."

Prior to his appointment as CEO Schuler served as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for Swisslog Healthcare since 2017. Before joining the company, Schuler held various management positions leading pick-and-place automation and robotics for the food packaging industry. He holds a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich and an MBA from INSEAD.

After eleven years at Swisslog Healthcare, serving as global CEO for six of those years, Stephan Sonderegger will leave the company to pursue a new career opportunity.

"I’m thrilled that our succession plan of having Swisslog Healthcare led by both Cory and Hans is coming to fruition. Knowing that the organization is in great hands going forward made it much easier for me to discuss with the board my desire to pursue other career interests and begin this transition process", said Stephan Sonderegger.
