The Strategic Sourcing Specialist is responsible for the development and execution of best practice strategic sourcing for Swisslog Healthcare North America. This position specializes in working with functional team leaders to plan and implement sources of supply, supplier management programs and drive cost savings. In addition, this position will manage long-term contracts to ensure that commercial obligations are met and the process of renewal or replacements of existing contracts are proactively managed. Develop and manage RFP’s that meet the business requirement and lead negotiations of large agreements, coordinating with legal, business management, IT and finance to ensure favorable commercial terms, risk mitigation and robust ongoing SLA’s and performance metrics are incorporated. Expertise in project management, contract negotiations, supplier development, and cost analysis.

Your collaboration
- Responsible for managing supplier source identification, Request for Quotation (RFQ) and Request for Purchase (RFP) preparation process, supplier performance evaluation, negotiations.
- Evaluate and select suppliers to insure performance that meets corporate expectations for quality, service, cost and delivery and support engineering R&D.
- Plan for and conduct negotiations for the acquisition and delivery of assigned goods and services.
- Knowledge of assigned commodities, supplier base capabilities, and a vast network of contacts to insure job proficiency and overall effectiveness
- Implement sourcing methodology including: supplier performance management, negotiation practices, risk management, TCO, and level of services.
- Prepare, negotiate and follow contracts with key influencers and legal department.
- Manage strategic agreements to maximize the terms and conditions negotiated in these agreements and monitor contract validity period.
- Technical understanding of products purchased; performs cost analysis and develops supply sources.
- Continually benchmark commodities marketplace to assess/understand new solutions to be developed and remain up to date in the relevant industry trends, capabilities of new entrants, category cost drivers and pricing trends – i.e. continually develop sourcing strategies to drive sustained savings and meet compliance targets, and to improve or enhance service delivery, including hedging to minimize market pressures, and other activities.
- Lead and implement sourcing projects to optimize spend by analyzing TCO, trends, risk, launching competitive bids and bringing innovative solutions.
- Work with IT, Engineering, Product & Project Management, and suppliers to identify new products and opportunities for cost reduction and/or process improvement. Proactively seek bottom line savings opportunities.
- Develop supplier relationships that further cost reduction efforts, promote quality improvement initiatives, and support design to cost and lean manufacturing initiatives.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders, provide leadership in the sourcing of requirements.
Your competence
- Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business Administration, Economics, or equivalent required. Experienced with personal computers, MS Office: Excel/ PowerPoint/ Word / Project and ERP systems are required.
- Minimum 6 years sourcing experience with 3 years strategic sourcing experience in a high-technology manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of high-tech environment. Well versed in contract development and use of standard purchasing terms and conditions. Creative and strategic thinker possessing strong problem-solving skills, with proven influencing skills. Must be proactive, exhibit continuous improvement mindset, and an ability to affect change. Able to work comfortably with all levels of the organization.
- Must have very strong written and verbal communication as well as negotiation and analytical skills. Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities.
- CPSM, CPIM, CSCP or equivalent professional certification.
- ISM and/or APICS membership.
- Master's Degree.
- A background using Ariba or other E-Sourcing tools.
- SAP Experience.
- Project Management experience a plus.
